— Pilates & Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Moira Anderson is owner and director of River Rock Yoga and Pilates in Ocean Springs, MS. She is a Professional Level Kripalu Yoga Teacher, teaching yoga full time since 2002 and training yoga teachers since 2008. She is a certified Pilates instructor in the Balance Point method, teaching Pilates since 2003.Her heart-opening approach and uniquely creative and effective sequencing provide inspiration and focus to calm the mind and strengthen, align, and open the body.

Moira’s yoga classes offer students compassionate self-observation, gentle alignment cues, and empowering vinyasa flow. Her yoga practice is deeply rooted in her study of yoga philosophy. That integral study supports her life as well as her teaching.

Her Pilates classes offer flowing, controlled movements, emphasizing core strength, that are designed to stabilize, tone and improve flexibility throughout the body. Breath is synchronized to oxygenate the system, and promote concentration. The result is a toned, muscular, elongated, lean-looking body that functions efficiently and is less prone to injury.

Breath awareness and exploratory, joint freeing movement are emphasized in all her classes. The nurturing environment she creates in her sessions, and her continual study of anatomy and physiology, inspire a strong, balanced body, and a focused, relaxed mind.

Moira is honored to have taken over 200 hours of alignment based yoga & philosophy workshops with Doug Keller. She completed Shiva Rea’s Vinyasa Flow Teacher training in 2004. It continues to be a major influence on her teaching style, as do her studies of Jivamukti yoga with Sharon Gannon & David Life. She is a Certified Children’s Yoga Teacher through The Asheville Yoga Center. Moira is a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. She spends two days a week at a psychiatric center teaching yoga to assist patients in recovery from anxiety, depression, and substance addiction issues. She spends two afternoons a week at a local hospital teaching a yoga program for PTSD recovery.

Moira is an English Literature graduate of The Colorado College with a minor in Dance and Elementary education. She is currently pursuing an MSW degree at the University of Southern Mississippi.
